Tung Yue Nang

Tung Yue Nang

Born in Singapore in 1959, Tung Yue Nang (邓汝能) began formal training in Chinese painting, calligraphy, seal carving, and engraving at age 15 under pioneer artist-educator Shi Xiang Tuo. While his practice has since expanded to include acrylic, mixed media, collage, sculpture, and photography, Chinese brush-and-ink remains central, guided by Taoist ideals of harmony and simplicity.

Over the past decade, Tung has developed a dramatic, figurative ink style that blends Western compositional techniques with delicate brushwork to portray cultural landscapes and human forms.

His accolades include multiple Dr Tan Tze Chor Art Awards (2002, 2014), affirming his standing in Singapore’s art scene.
