Lee Gil Rae

Lee Gil-Rae, a graduate of Kyunghee University with a Master’s in Sculpture, spent two decades using nature as inspiration to create sculptures from steel and copper pipes. His work reflects the artificial nature of urban life, where nature is often replaced by expanding cities. Lee’s surreal, leafless forests, made from copper, capture the beauty of a rapidly depleting resource, offering a lasting tribute to nature. His works, which mimic the intricate textures of tree bark and pine needles, invite viewers to explore organic forms within man-made structures. Lee has exhibited widely in Korea, the US, and Japan, with his works held in permanent collections globally.
