Adi Gunawan is an Indonesian artist well known for his highly distinctive sculptures. He was born in Yogyakarta in 1974, with much experience through years of experiments rooted in his education at Institut Seni Indonesia. Through his works, Adi frequently expresses his art with symbols such as women and animals. Adi challenges the media’s perception of the definitions of beauty in women. He often mixes the symbols of women and animals, derived from his childhood memories. Adi then transforms the ideas into enjoyable forms of many different animals.
